Policies & Rules

• Regular season and playoffs.

• Rosters: Each team can roster a maximum of 12 players.

• Format: 7v7 games including goalkeepers. A team must field a minimum of 5 players for the games to start. If a team has less than 5 players available, the game will be considered a forfeit. Additionally, if a team is not on the field within 10 minutes from the start of the game, the game will be considered a forfeit.  

• Field dimensions: 70 yards by 45 yards (9v9 field dimensions).  

• Goal size: 7’ x 21’ 

• Duration of games: Two 25 minutes periods with a 5 minutes break. Games will not have overtime or stoppage time; if a playoff or championship game ends in a draw, the game will go straight to penalty kicks.  

• Ball size: 5 

• Kick-off time: 8:45pm 

• Game rules: All games will be played under the “FIFA Laws for the Game” rules and under other rules that FSA might adopt. The offside rule will not be in effect during this league. During dead ball situations such as free kicks and corner kicks, the opposing team’s players must stay 7 yards away from the spot of the free kick. 

• Substitutions: Unlimited substitutions are allowed and will take place during appropriate game stoppages. The referee must approve all substitutions.  

• Player equipment: All players must wear adequate soccer uniform including shin guards. Teams are responsible for procuring their own uniforms, all players must wear the same colors. If two teams have uniforms of the same color, league organizers will provide the “home team” with colored vests.  

• Game points: 3 points will be awarded for a win and 1 for a draw. Forfeits will result in a 3-0 win.  

• Tiebreak: 1) head-to-head record, 2) goal differential, 3) goals scored, 4) goals against. 

• Bookings and player misconduct: A player that accumulates 3 yellow cards at any time during the season will be suspended for one game. A red card will result in a one game suspension.  If a player is shown a red card because of severe violation of the game rules (fighting or hitting an opponent or game officials, spitting at an opponent or game officials, or using any kind of offensive language towards opponents and officials), he/she will not be allowed to participate in any further games.  

• Weather policy: FSA reserves the right to cancel any league games for weather related reasons. Weather events will be closely monitored by FSA staff and decisions will be made to protect the safety of the players, officials, and league staff. In case of thunder and lightning in the area, games will be stopped and will resume 30 minutes after the last lightning bolt was observed. Postponing and game canceling decisions will be made based on the specific circumstances at the time of the tournament.  

• Sportsmanlike conduct: All league participants have the duty to conduct themselves in a decent manner during the tournament. Any form of abuse directed at game officials, players, and coaches will result in disqualification.
